Cherry Creek Falls

This was a next level hike for my young grandson as it is 5 miles round trip which definitely was approaching his limit as his legs were tired on the way back. He handled it like a champ and had a fun journey. My son-in-law brought his two dogs as this is a dog friendly hike too.

Early on the trail we cross a bridge over a stream.

My grandson is at the age where making funny faces to the camera is fun.

The forest here is full of ferns and moss covered trees.

The woods are thick and bright in places where the sun can get through.

The trail is wide in most places. We are hiking 2 1/2 miles in before we get to the falls.

My grandson has a lot of energy and continues to lead.

We are near the falls now. There is a small stream to cross.

Finally, we are at the site. We got there soon enough that we could get some good pictures. Shortly after, the water was populated with many fellow hikers enjoying the water and it would be difficult to get pictures like this.

My grandson is goofing around, but I manage to get a nice picture of him in front of the falls.

I waded into the water with my shoes and sox off to get a closer picture of the right side waterfall.

After exploring the falls. We ate lunch before heading back.

Crossing the stream again on the way back. There is 2 1/2 miles ahead of us to get back to the car.
